The Artist

Hi, I'm Jane Hall, I'm the artist and owner of Hall Crafty. I've always been known as someone who did all the crafty things. Which is what inspired the name Hall Crafty. Hall Crafty like All Crafty. 

Growing up in rural Cape Breton (Nova Scotia), my hobbies included crafting and repurposing materials. As a teenager I started off making purses and skirts from old jeans, learning how to sew from my mom. I also painted pictures on bricks, to be used as doorstops (my dad had a huge supply of random bricks, if you knew my dad you would understand). My passion for up-cycling started here. 

I moved to Halifax, for university and I instantly fell in love with the vibrant city and made it my home.

I attended NSCAD and NSCC and earned a diploma in Graphic Design & Applied Communication Arts (NSCC) but my career path eventually led me to Program Management and the corporate world.

I couldn't ignore my deep-rooted passion and desire to craft with my heart. That's why I started this small crafting business on the side, aiming to reconnect with my creative origins.

Over the years, I've dedicated myself to honing my skills in various areas. In 2020, I experienced a beautiful convergence of my interests: up-cycling, jewelry and craft beverages. I was captivated by the beautiful and distinctive artwork found on local beer, cider, and wine cans, which inspired me to create earrings from this sustainable material. The result was a collection of fun, lightweight, wearable art pieces that bring joy to those who wear them.

Since 2020 I have continued to pour my heart and soul into growing this business, improving my skills, building up an inventory of recycled beverage cans and expanding my offering of products.

Alongside my titles of Artist, Small Business Owner and Program Manager, I am also a Wife and Mom (to a crafty little lady). While balancing everything is challenging, it is also incredibly fulfilling. It brings me immense happiness to create and to know that others enjoy and appreciate the pieces I've crafted with such love and passion.
